Introducing Lindsey Maynard

Hi everyone! My name is Lindsey Maynard and this is my 15th season of synchro, and I couldn’t be more excited! I currently skate for Miami’s Varsity Synchronized Skating Senior team. This is my first year at Miami University and on Miami’s Senior team.

I am a Kinesiology major and hope to become a Physician’s Assistant after my time at Miami. My favorite food is any breakfast food, I could eat it anytime of the day! I absolutely love animals, especially my kitten, Jules! I also enjoy traveling, going to Lake Michigan in the summer, and spending time with my family and friends. I am from Grass Lake, Michigan, and graduated from Grass Lake High School.

I skated for 14 years with the Hockettes, starting at the beginner level and moving my way up to the Junior level. I skated 5 years on Hockettes Junior and had the honor of representing Team USA at four international competitions. My favorite international competition was my first, because it was such an unforgettable experience. Hockettes Junior, Skyliners Junior, Evolution Junior, and Miami Senior represented Team USA at the Spring Cup in Milan, Italy in 2011. All four teams representing Team USA united; and it was an incredible feeling when the 3 junior teams swept the podium! As we sang the National Anthem, we watched our flag being raised and it was a moment that I cherish and still remember vividly.

As I begin my season with Miami Senior, I am so excited to push the boundaries of my skating and take it to the next level. This season, my goal is to skate every practice like it is competition. I want to leave every competition knowing my team and I gave everything to our performances, and left it all on the ice. Instead of focusing on the results, which is most of the time out of your control, I believe staying in the moment and allowing your passion to shine through your performances will allow you to achieve the feeling of having no regrets, which is ultimately better than any medal or placement.

“To be the best means performing at your highest level when the spotlight is on you and everything is on the line. This requires you to define the moment rather than letting the moment define you.” –Jon Gordon

Wishing every team the best of luck this season! Keep dreaming!

Love,

Lindsey
